I completed a Network Specialist diploma at Gwinnett Technical College with a concentration in Cisco technologies. The program focused on core networking concepts including subnetting, VLANs, routing and switching, inter-VLAN routing, WAN technologies, DHCP, DNS, and TCP/IP design. Using Cisco routers and switches in lab environments, I built and configured networks from the ground up—implementing protocols like OSPF, EIGRP, STP, and EtherChannel, and troubleshooting broadcast issues, trunking, and Layer 2 loops. Network security was also a major part of the curriculum. This included configuring secure remote access with SSH, implementing ACLs, port security, firewall fundamentals, mitigation of common threats, and understanding enterprise security policies. The coursework combined hands-on lab work with real world networking scenarios, giving me both the technical knowledge and practical experience to design, secure, and maintain modern network infrastructure.
